Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) is Canada’s national standard for hazard communication with the newly integrated Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. This system is designed to classify and identify workplace chemical hazards in a consistent manner. It provides information to workers and employers about hazardous substances used at work. There are three ways that hazardous material information must be disclosed under WHMIS.
